It’s 23 years since Ulysse Nardin’s first Freak, and two things are amazing about this. One, it hasn’t run out of ideas to add to the Freak. Two, the earliest Freak models still hold up well aesthetically today against their newer variations, even when measured by the design trends of this decade. Because the Freak has always epitomised unconventional and futuristic watchmaking, it’s rarely tied to traditional watchmaking practices or crafts.
