Peu importe le type d’événement auquel je suis invitée et les gens qui y participent, c’est toujours le même scénario. Plus la date approche, plus j’angoisse. Je me demande si je serai assez en forme pour entretenir la conversation, si je réussirai à ne pas dire de bêtises, si je trouverai des sujets de discussion intéressants, si je ne créerai pas trop de froids ou de malaises et si… et si… «C’est un comportement typique de l’anxiété sociale. Les personnes ont peur de se faire prendre en défaut, de faire une gaffe, d’avoir l’air stupides. Elles anticipent et amplifient ce qui peut mal se passer et cela ruine souvent toute possibilité que la rencontre sociale puisse être agréable, plaisante et gratifiante», explique Danielle Amado, psychologue clinicienne spécialisée dans le traitement…
