The first thing Ian Pope says to me when I meet him at his property, Rockpool Farm, is, “All this is Country Style’s fault!” Located just outside of Bangalow in the Byron Bay hinterland in northern New South Wales, the family-owned Rockpool Farm has four houses that can be booked separately or all together: The Mango Packing Shed (sleeping five), Storm Cabin (sleeping three), Rockpool Farmhouse (sleeping eight, and until recently, the Pope family’s home) and The Bails (sleeping four). When planning the glorious gardens and accommodation offerings, Ian pored through the pages of numerous Country Style magazines, clipping and marking pages as he went.
