Bridge I CAN’T lie—I wasn’t really looking forward to the United States Bridge Federation Fall Nationals in Las Vegas late last year. I’m not a gambler (well, okay, maybe a little flutter on the cricket or golf, but absolutely not a fruit machine) and walking in Vegas is famously tricky. Actually, however, I had a really nice time—and played quite well (there’s often a correlation). Here are a couple of pleasurable low-level defences with partner Alex Allfrey from the increasingly prestigious Soloway Knockout Teams. West led the ace of hearts, winning the trick. Now what?
