How to use a grease gun

INSTEAD OF OIL for lubrication, some machinery requires grease, which is much less viscous than oil and is specifically designed for more demanding applications. Among other attributes, grease stays in place longer, can be used in marine settings, and forms a barrier that blocks dust and dirt from getting into components. Because of its viscosity, you can’t drip or wick grease in place like oil. It needs a grease gun—a lot like a heavy-duty caulking gun—to dispense. The grease itself comes in a cartridge that can be conveniently loaded into the gun. The gun applies pressure to the grease, often through a spring-loaded plunger.
