RETOUR AU CALME En arrêtant sa carrière internationale, Javier Mendizabal a stoppé un tourbillon d'images, de musiques et de couleurs. Le free-skater n'est pas en compétition; il raconte des histoires, fait de beaux voyages, de belles images. « Le skate est un milieu très créatif, raconte-t-il. J'inventais, je faisais un peu tout: les images, la bande son, même les vêtements, et Quiksilver encourageait cette ébullition. Que demander de mieux?» Pendant dix ans, toute sa créativité est allée au monde du skate. Puis Javier a voulu s'ouvrir à d'autres univers, à d'autres pratiques artistiques. Il s'installe au pied de la Rhune, à Ascain, et commence à peindre de grandes toiles colorées, où des silhouettes à peine esquissées se fondent au cœur de paysages oniriques et d'une nature exubérante.
