WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION? ‘I first visited Dubai when I moved to the UAE in 2006. Back then, the most impressive architectural element was Sheikh Zayed Road and its skyscrapers. I was so struck by the tall buildings and this huge highway in the middle of the city. All the casual restaurants and cafes were along Jumeirah Road, and people used to gather around that area night and day. What I remember of that time is how I felt at home immediately, and how incredibly safe the city was (and still is).
