UK’s broadband speeds slip to 35th in world - below Madagascar!

The UK has slipped four places to 35th in the world’s broadband rankings, below 25 other European countries and even Madagascar – home to dancing lemurs (pictured) and giant baobab trees? despite the island being on the UN’s list of Least Developed Countries. In the 12 months to July 2018, researchers from M-Lab, which includes analysts from Google, tested how long it would take to download a high-definition film in 200 countries. Singapore topped the list for the second year running, taking 11 minutes at an average speed of 60.39Mbps, far ahead of Sweden in second place (46Mbps). The UK’s average speed was 18.57Mbps, at which speed it would take 36 minutes to download a film. War-torn Yemen came bottom of the 200 countries, averaging just 0.31Mbps. It would take…
