Edge is safer than Chrome. Oh not it’s not. Oh yes it is. Since Microsoft launched Edge in 2015, the browser wars have descended into pantomime-like bickering. Microsoft points to several reports from Texan security testers NSS Labs that claim Edge blocks more threats than Chrome. But at last year’s Pwn2Own conference, where ‘good’ hackers look for vulnerabilities in browsers, five were found in Edge, one in Firefox, and none in Chrome. Beneath these claims lies a deeper truth: you’ll generally be safe using any browser as long as you strengthen it by turning on security settings and adding relevant extensions.
