Having recently experienced the passing of a much-loved family member, I know how devastating it can be. And when you’ve just lost a loved one, the last thing you expect – or need – is a letter from PayPal telling you that their death has violated its terms and conditions. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to Howard Durdle after his wife Lindsay died in May this year. After Howard informed the company that Lindsay had passed away, Paypal sent a letter – addressed, unbelievably, to Mrs Durdle herself – explaining that “you are in breach of condition 15.4c of your agreement with PayPal Credit, as we have received notice that you are deceased”.
