Nearly three years after it was introduced, many retailers are still struggling to grasp the basics of the Consumer Rights Act (CRA). Thankfully, Computeractive readers are better informed, and continue to contact us to fight for a refund. In Claire Maughan’s case against Furniture Village (see Issue 532), the fault clearly lay with the retailer. It sent her a £4,130 sofa that was not only late, but also faulty. Claire rejected it within 30 days of receiving it, which meant that under the CRA she could insist on a refund. But Furniture Village was operating under a different law – one known only to itself.
