NEON AND AVENGERS

I was intrigued to see the Chrysler Neon on p108 of the August issue. I haven't seen one for about 20 years, because they were rubbish mechanically and bodily —someone I knew had to spend £3000 to get his through only its second MoT, a terrific amount of money back then. Moving on to the Chrysler 180, I used to work at the Chrysler plants in Coventry. I was a telephone engineer for an outside company, but we could get discounts the same as the employees. They were mostly building the Avenger at the time, but a colleague bought a 180 – he didn't keep it very long as the build quality was worse than the Avenger, and they were poor.
