A colour change doesn’t necessarily impact a car’s career, but the repaint of this rally-ready 911 in 1999 certainly marks a change of fortune. Back in the day — this is to say, the 1990s, when it was a red Porsche — it belonged to legendary navigator, Beatty Crawford, and was driven by rallying gods (and goddesses), including Björn Waldegård, Jimmy McRae, Billy Coleman, Stig Blomqvist and Louise Aitken-Walker. Beatty and his star drivers enjoyed many successes in a litany of top-line historic rallies, from Ypres to Boucles de Spa, from the Jim Clark to RAC Historic. “I simply contacted my favourite sporting personalities and asked if they’d like to drive my 911,” he explains. “This is all I had to do.
