WORDS AND PICS: PIP HIGHAM Don’t know about you, but I’d always go for a good guesser against a bad measurer, if I’m honest. That said, it’s true also that, in our game, we do need to measure stuff accurately, so if you’re contemplating the purchase of a little digital vernier, good idea! Maybe… I say ‘maybe’ thanks to the following tale… I bought a cheap vernier off that, there eBay. It looks the part and has a lovely clear display. Unfortunately the values thus displayed bear little semblance to the real world. Yes, maybe you get my ‘good guesser/bad measurer’ analogy now.…
