How to Repair chassis rails

Last issue we repaired the chassis outrigger, now for the main chassis rails and kick-up — we’re nearly there!

Part 2 of 2 We embarked on a simple job last month of replacing the chassis kick-up section on a Mk1 Cortina, which of course turned out to be harder than we thought — isn’t it always? Not only was it rotten but the main chassis rail that joined it was riddled with MoT-type patches — and when lifted they were rotten too. But it got worse because the chassis rail they joined into, the main one running transversely and over the gearbox tunnel, was also patched and rusted out as well. We showed how we repaired that with a replacement section from Ex-Pressed Steel Panels last month.
