The JCB EC11 Fleet

In 2006 JCB decided on a major change of lorry-buying policy for its in-house factory transport and demonstrator delivery fleets. Apart from flirtations with Volvo and Atkinson between 1971 and 1977, they had been loyal customers of ERF since 1965. However following ERF’s acquisition by MAN in 2002, they felt that the new lorries then available weren’t going to be anything like as suitable for the firm’s needs as the EC11s that they would be replacing. So instead of buying new, the firm embarked on a programme of rebuilding to as-new condition lorries from its existing fleet, plus some others that were bought in from selected suppliers for refurbishment.
