CUMBERLAND TRUNK ROAD RUN

One day rather than two this year, but still an enjoyable and pleasantly-challenging road run. David Reed reports…

The 21st Cumberland Trunk Road Run took place on September 1 2024, and once again attracted a varied selection of vehicles. There were a couple of changes to the event this year, the main one being a reduction from a two-day to a one-day outing. The start was moved from Kendal to the Gilwilly Industrial Estate in Penrith. The route was still as challenging as ever though, with the entrants being challenged to climb Hartside Pass which rises to 1904ft above sea level. From the top the vehicles had a short break where magnificent views were on offer all the way to the Solway Firth despite the rather gloomy conditions, before the vehicles were on the road again, heading for Alston.
