Orange-Cream SorBet

Okay, it’s actually clementines and milk—but this easy frozen treat might just remind you of a classic vanilla-centered ice pop! Kid Recipe Tester Amine added some grated zest to his sorbet and loved the flavor it added; scrub and zest one of the clementines before peeling if you’d like to try it (see page 5).

❚ ADULT: YES ❚ HANDS-ON TIME: 15 MINUTES ❚ TOTAL TIME: 2 HOURS 15 MINUTES ❚ MAKES: 4 SERVINGS KITCHEN GEAR Rimmed baking sheet Parchment or wax paper Measuring spoons Food processor (adult needed) Wooden spoon INGREDIENTS 8 clementines or seedless mandarins2 tablespoons milk or plain yogurt½ teaspoon vanilla extract Pinch of salt INSTRUCTIONS 1. Line the baking sheet with parchment or wax paper. 2. Peel the clementines and separate them into sections. Put the sections on the prepared baking sheet and freeze until solid, about 2 hours. 3. Put the frozen clementine sections in the food processor, along with the milk or yogurt, vanilla, and salt, and turn the machine on to blend them. At first they will want to spin around and stay icy, but keep at it, stopping the machine and using the wooden spoon…
