You’ll need: • apple wedges• lemon juice and other liquids like milk, ginger ale, juice, vinegar• clear cups or bowls What to do: 1 Place each apple wedge into a clear cup or bowl. 2 Put one cup or bowl aside. Fill the rest with different liquids. 3 Check the apples after one hour. What happened? Check again after five hours. How did the apples change? How it works When an apple is cut open, oxygen in the air turns it brown. This is called oxidization! Lemons are full of citric acid which slows down oxidization. So the apple in lemon juice takes longer to turn brown.…
