Medical miracle At my local spiritualist church in 2012, a familiar figure appeared. It was my beloved nana Edna who’d passed away when I was 19. ‘Please tell your mam to check her breasts for lumps,’ she said. ‘If she does, she’ll catch it in time.’ My stomach churned – could Mum have cancer? I rushed out and rang my mum Glenise. ‘Nana says you must check yourself,’ I said, worried. ‘Don’t worry, I’m fine,’ Mum said. But, a few weeks later, Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery followed by radiotherapy and chemo. Thanks to Nana, Mum found the lump early and she made a full recovery. But it could have been so different.
