The surge up the Premier Soccer League (PSL) log by AmaZulu and Lamontville Golden Arrows can only be good for South African football. For many years, the “big three” – Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates – have dominated the landscape. However, currently, AmaZulu are second on the log and underlined their title credentials with a sensational 5-1 triumph over Cape Town City on Wednesday night. Arrows also fought hard to secure a 0-0 draw with log leaders Sundowns to remain in third spot on the log. AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy, who must have savoured every moment of the win over Cape Town City (he was fired as their coach), and AmaZulu owner Sandile Zungu certainly look like they are kick-starting a revolution in South African football.
