Gang links probed after pregnant woman shot

SPECULATION that 30-year-old pregnant Imaan Syms was shot 17 times has been defused by authorities who confirmed that four bullets penetrated her body. Syms was shot in the chest and buttocks on Monday in Sussex Street, Woodstock. Her father, Ziyaad Williams, was also allegedly a target and escaped the shooting unharmed. Police picked up 9mm parabellum shells from the scene. It has since emerged that Syms was in a relationship with Abdul Taliep “Dulla” Boonzaaier, who was shot and killed two years ago in Manenberg and was devastated by his death. Boonzaier was the son of slain former Hard Livings gang leader, Rashied Staggie, who was murdered in 2019 in Salt River.
