Voices from the streets: Reality of Cape Town’s Safe Spaces

This past week saw me being inundated with calls, messages and letters from residents living at the various City of Cape Town “Safe Spaces”. While the Mayor regularly refers to these Safe Spaces, as “world class facilities that Capetonians can be proud of” the complaints I received this week again highlight another side to these Safe Spaces. “I had an extremely unpleasant experience at Safe Space 3 in Greenpoint on Saturday night.
