CANADIAN ULTRARUNNER STEPHANIE CASE epitomizes the “If you want something done, ask a busy person” ethos. Between racing, training, sponsor obligations, rest and recovery protocols and (in the case of ultrarunners) all the eating, it can be challenging to pin down a pro runner for an interview. Case, on the other hand, in addition to being a North Face-sponsored ultrarunner, is a practising human rights lawyer currently based in Jerusalem, working with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). Throughout her career, her runs have been as likely to look like many, many short laps on a compound in Afghanistan (complete with armed guards) as in the mountains of Chamonix, France (her home base).
