Jeff Pelletier’s films give fans an inside track on ultra-trail

In a three-month period in 2023, Jeff Pelletier (our cover model for this issue) was able to strike two things off his bucket list. To mark his 42nd birthday, he ran the Bob Graham Round, a 106-km fell-running route linking 42 summits in Britain’s Lake District. (The route must be completed in 24 hours; Pelletier’s goal was sub-22, and he finished in 21:57—the faster of only two finishes by Canadians.) He followed that up, three months later, with a second-place finish (by a scant five and a half minutes) at Moab 240, a 240-mile race in Utah and part of the “Triple Crown” of 200-plus-mile races, which also includes Tahoe 200 and Bigfoot 200. These are impressive enough accomplishments, but consider that he ran both while filming with a GoPro Hero…
