Touching Greatness, Forever Together: The Villanova Track Story 1966–1981 By Jerry Bouma Three Rascals Press, 2022 This book showed me what goes into the making of a sublime track and field program. The lessons to be learned are equally pertinent to serious track and field athletes, coaches and runners searching for that magical ingredient to improve their personal bests. The author, Jerry Bouma (who now lives in Edmonton), was a bit of a legend during his high school years in Owen Sound, Ont., setting a Canadian junior mile record in 1970, which earned him an athletics scholarship to Pennsylvania’s Villanova University.
