Here’s how to work out using a trap bar/hex bar, ab wheel or sandbag

Most runners are familiar with dumbbells, barbells and resistance bands, but if you’d like to add some variety to your strength-training routine, here are three more unusual pieces of equipment to get acquainted with. 1 The trap bar (a.k.a. hex bar) The trap bar is a barbell with a hexagonal shape that you lift while standing inside it. Some newer trap bars have one side removed for greater versatility, but it’s mainly used for deadlifts. There are two handle options at the side of your body—one higher handle and, if you flip the bar over, one lower handle.
