Project Love Run (PLR) is a women-only run collective focused on raising awareness of systems of oppression in running culture. The group meets monthly to offer self-identifying women a space to run and to have heart-centred, themed discussions over brunch. Now going into its seventh year, the collective currently offers a monthly drop-in trail run called Saturdays, with Love (SWL). As an avid trail runner and ultrarunner, it’s my passion to create a space for other Black and POC women to come together and experience the joys of trail running in a non-intimidating setting. Trail running has long been promoted as an elite, competitive, primarily white sport involving long distances; for the beginner runner or non-runner, this can feel scary and inaccessible.
