Courtney Dauwalter smashes course record at Bandera 100K On Jan. 7, American ultratrail legend Courtney Dauwalter smashed the course record (formerly nine hours, eight minutes, set by Stephanie Howe in 2017) at Bandera 100K in Texas. Dauwalter ran eight hours, 59 minutes and is the first woman to run a sub-nine-hour time on the infamously tough course. She was sixth overall. The top two male and female finishers earned golden tickets to this year’s Western States Endurance Run in California, which takes place June 23; Nicole Bitter of Phoenix, Ariz., was second, in 10:04. Jeff Colt of Carbondale, Colo., won the men’s race, in 8:23, and JP Giblin of Boulder followed in 8:29.
