COMMENT CAN YOU BELIEVE that it's close to 16 years since the first mirrorless camera was introduced? It was a joint co-operation between Panasonic and Olympus using the Four Thirds sensor size that both brands had adopted for their DSLRs. If you can remember that far back, Four Thirds was an attempt to standardise the configuration of DSLRs and so it included the lens mount fitting as well. A glorious world of limitless interchangeability beckoned… or not. As has always been the case in photography, universality again proved elusive, but the Four Thirds standard did, on paper at least, attract a few of photography's big brands, including Fujifilm which was a bit of a miracle given Kodak was the co-developer… along with Olympus. The Micro Four Thirds mirrorless standard followed…
