One of the main problems with travelling is other travellers, whether it's inexperienced vacationers clogging up security queues or passengers who aren't clued up on inflight etiquette (just so we're clear, the middle person gets both armrests).
The problem worsens when there's too many travellers. Queues, crowds and sold-out tickets are the downsides to ever-increasing networks and affordable travel infrastructure.
When it comes to mega events, say the Olympics, travel can become an endurance feat that will break the hardiest globetrotter.
Paris has, of course, been gearing up to handle the influx of travellers it will face this summer, with added transport services and facilities (see our ‘Paris: Going for Gold’ feature online). But many Parisians will no doubt have escape routes planned to vacate the capital for the duration of the Games.…
