THERE'S NEVER BEEN A BETTER TIME to visit Cambodia's capital. New developments include the December 2024 opening of the Shangri-La Phnom Penh (we recommend heading to its rooftop bar, 228m up), while recent infrastructure improvements to Norodom Boulevard, which connects the airport to the city centre, have made key landmarks more accessible. Getting to – and from – the city will soon become even easier. Techo International Airport, 30km south of the city, will open in 2025, replacing Phnom Penh International Airport, while the US$4.2 billion Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway, which will stretch to the Thai border, is expected to get the green light by the end of this year.
