SUSTAINABLE STAYS IN BHUTAN

IT HAS THE WORLD'S HIGHEST tourism tax at US$200 per adult, per night, but the Kingdom of Bhutan is now encouraging longer stays by launching incentives for travellers forking out the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF). Visitors booking stays until December 31, 2024 can now gain four additional nights without the daily levy if they book for four nights – and the same goes for seven nights. Those paying the levy for 12 nights will receive up to 18 additional nights without the daily levy. Travellers will now have ample opportunity to discover the Kingdom's 20 provinces, which include highland communities, remote villages and hiking hotspots.
