Asia shines bright in future of wellness

Report highlights the continent's growing role in the multibillion-dollar sector

THE FUTURE OF Wellness Tourism 2025 report, recently released at the annual Global Wellness Summit and published by Finn Partners Global Travel Practice, highlights the importance of the world's wellness tourism industry, projected to be worth a staggering US$1.4 trillion by 2027, with Japan and South Korea, as well as Saudi Arabia, Italy and Iceland, featuring in its top five countries worldwide pushing the frontiers of wellness tourism. In Japan, where the wellness economy is worth a cool US$303 billion, travellers soak up the Zen Buddhist country's traditional onsen baths and forest bathing. The luxury Aman group recently opened its 4,000sqm Janu Tokyo wellness hotel, offering one of the largest gyms in the city.
