BRITISH AIRWAYS HAS A NEW sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) partnership - this time with Lanzajet and Nova Pangaea Technologies. The aim is to develop cost-effective SAF for commercial use in the UK through Project Speedbird. This would transform agricultural and wood waste into 102 million litres of SAF per year, and become the UK’s first SAF facility utilising these feedstocks. British Airways says that construction could begin later this year, and the facility, which is planned to be built in Northeast England, could be producing SAF by 2026. The SAF produced would reduce CO2, emissions, on a net lifecycle basis, by 230,000 tonnes a year, which is equivalent to the emissions from approximately 26,000 British Airways domestic flights.…
