Hvem husker ikke Birthe Kjærs ikoniske, røde kjole med pufærmer og masser af struttende tyl-flæser, som hun bar, da hun udødeliggjorde sangen ”Vi maler byen rød” i Dansk Melodi Grand Prix i 1989? Men faktisk skulle hendes outfit have set helt anderledes ud, afslørede Birthe Kjær, da hun forleden gæstede ”Aftenshowet” på DR. – Vi havde nogle problemer, fordi først havde vi tænkt os, at jeg skulle have sådan et jakkesæt på, og så skulle nogen rive bukserne af mig, og så skulle der folde sig en stor rød kjole ud, men jeg lignede en rullepølse i de bukser dér. Vi kunne ikke skjule den kjole. Og så hu hej hast fik jeg syet den, som det så endte med at blive. Og den er jo nærmest helt ikonisk, fortalte…
