Massevis af puder, stoleog taburetbetræk, et sminkebord til dronning Mary, sengetæpper og endda store kaminskærme er blandt de ting, hun har kastet sig over i årenes løb. Til Harsdorffsalen på Fredensborg Slot har dronningen broderet en kaminskærm, hvor dronningen – ligesom selskabstaskerne er særligt designet til hver modtager – har taget omgivelserne i betragtning, hvad angår motiv og farvevalg. ”Den blev faktisk ret vellykket, den ville virkeligt gerne sys”, sagde dronning Margrethe om netop denne skærm i interviewet med Elisabeth von Buchwald.
