ELLIOT’S ASCENT: A CAREER TIMELINE

On Oct. 1, 30-year-old 10K Projects founder Elliot Grainge will become the youngest CEO of a major label when he takes the reins of Atlantic Music Group. It’s a climb that has taken a little over 10 years for the son of Universal Music Group chairman/ CEO Lucian Grainge
2013 TAKE BOSTON While enrolled at Northeastern University, Grainge kick-started his career by co-founding nightlife promotion company Take Boston and later forming Strainge Sessions, through which he promoted shows by Berklee College of Music students at local clubs. 2016 10K PROJECTS LAUNCH Grainge relocated to Los Angeles, where Strainge Sessions morphed into the label Strainge Entertainment. It later became 10K Projects after rapper Tech N9ne sued for alleged infringement upon the trademark of his indie label, Strange Music. (The two sides settled.) Launched under the Universal Music Group-owned Capitol Music Group, 10K’s roster grew to include such successful acts as XXXTentacion, 6ix9ine, Trippie Redd and Ice Spice. 2019 HOMEMADE PROJECTS INVESTMENT With Create Music Group, 10K made a strategic investment in management and marketing company Homemade Projects.
