HAVING TRASHED my previous chain through shoddy maintenance and spent £90 on a new chain and sprockets, I decide to get an automatic chain oiler. Horse, stable, bolted etc. Whatever. There are loads of different types available, powered by everything from motion to wind. I choose an electric Scott Oiler – despite being a salty £199, it looks the easiest to fit. Here’s the process: 1 Work out where the reservoir/pump jobbie can fit. I have to move the stupid alarm that was on the bike when I got it. One day I’ll extract the cretinous object from the wiring loom, but not today. A bit of shuffling and there’s room under the pillion seat. 2 Wire the pump into the battery.
