Boastie channels his inner schoolboy

I WAS 15 and had been schoolboy scrambling for seven years. I knew I was a lucky lad to be racing, so never complained to me dad about my bikes being outdated because I knew he got me what he could afford. Then one day I got home from school and dad said ‘You better look in the garage.’ There stood the most fantastic MX bike I’d ever seen – a 1979 Aspes HF125, black tank, orange frame and engine with a big ‘A’ on it. My first meeting on it came and it was so fast and soaked up bumps as if they were made of cotton wool – I got second spot in YMSA Club Humberside Hawks, my best result in scrambling to that point.
