SUMMING IT UP
What is Topps Fire? It’s a first time baseball brand you may have seen last season in football. This release is very edgy and quite a departure from any current Topps product out there. Many longtime Topps fans have given this some pretty harsh reviews online, not liking the flashy and “fiery” designs.
And Topps is probably OK if a traditionalist doesn’t like this. It’s different, and clearly targeted to a younger audience. We can let you know, many old-school collectors in our office like it just for those reasons. It IS different. There are current and retired subjects, and some great old time images of guys like Hank Aaron, Cal Ripken, Bo Jackson and Reggie Jackson (to name just a few) that we have not seen before. And we certainly have not seen them in this type of presentation. The four-per-box Monikers insert seems to be quite popular for its design and subject matter.
