Testun trafod sy’n codi’i ben adeg yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol o dro i dro yw’r rheol Gymraeg, a chlywir rhai’n cwyno oherwydd bod rhaid iddynt ganu popeth yn Gymraeg ar y llwyfan. Canlyniad y rheol yw bod yn rhaid naill ai: (a) canu darnau a gyfansoddwyd yn Gymraeg, neu (b) gomisiynu darnau i’w canu yn Gymraeg, neu (c) drosi o ieithoedd eraill. Yr ateb mwyaf ymarferol a’r rhataf i’r Eisteddfod yw trosi, er mwyn galluogi unawdwyr, deuawdwyr, grwpiau neu gorau i ganu pob math o gerddoriaeth o bob gwlad, pob genre a phob cyfnod. I’r puryddion, mae hyn yn anathema.
