Ian Robertson’s office is at the top of BMW’s iconic ‘four-cylinder’ building, which was constructed in 1972 as part of the Munich Olympic park. One side of his office is a sweeping wall of glass that looks across Munich and towards the Alps. Or would, if today’s cloud base wasn’t so low. “I have the best view of all the directors,” he says, grinning. As far as Brits in the motor industry go, Robertson is one of the most influential, as well as one of the most experienced. He is BMW’s board member for sales and marketing.
