New Mk5 Renault Clio takes on Ford Fiesta and SEAT Ibiz class leaders for best supermini crown

FRENCH car manufacturers have traditionally been strong when it comes to their small, affordable cars, yet it’s fair to say recently other brands have had it more their own way in the supermini sector. But now Renault has returned with its new, fifth-generation Clio. Over the past four iterations it’s mobilised generations of new drivers, taken countless commuters to and from work and covered almost every base in between. But the fourth version wasn’t exactly the best model in its class and the humble supermini has evolved to the point where it now has an operating window that’s broader than ever.
