Alfa Romeo’s Giulia is aggressively priced and generously equipped. It deserves more attention against its German rivals. Start money is $74,950 for the Giulia Veloce. It gets a 206kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbopetrol engine, matched with an eight-speed automatic and rear wheel drive, plus premium performance hardware including adjustable suspension, a limited slip rear differential and exquisite traditional Alfa five-hole 19-inch alloy wheels. It reaches 100km/h in a claimed 5.7 seconds, which ain’t exactly hanging around. It’s main rival, BMW’s M Sport 330i, is priced at $93,400. Its 2.0-litre turbo produces 190kW/400Nm and it takes 5.8 seconds to hit the 100km/h mark.
