The X1 is the most affordable SUV from BMW. Now in its third generation, it’s priced from $53,900 plus on-road costs for the sDrive 18i that gets a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbopetrol engine driving the front wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch automatic. There is also a $65,900 X1 xDrive 20i, which gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbopetrol/all-wheel drivetrain. An electric version, badged iX1, is also available. Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone air, powered tailgate, head-up display, wireless phone charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto presented on a 10.7-inch curved central display that flows into a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
