Starting from $36,590, the front-wheel drive Mazda CX-5 Maxx vies with Nissan’s X-Trail, Subaru’s Forester and Toyota’s RAV4 for safety honours, but as the new favourite family freighter class, these mid-size SUVs are now top sellers. Maxx Sport is $40,310 with front-wheel drive or $42,810 with all-wheel drive.
