HONDA CIVIC TYPE R FROM $72,600

As with its immediate predecessor, Honda’s sixth generation Civic Type R sits on the front row of the hot hatch grid, with Hyundai’s i30N and the VW Golf R. The Honda, though, is now the most expensive of the trio by a big margin. At $72,600 drive away, it’s almost $20,000 pricier than the previous model, $20,600 more than the Hyundai, and $2010 more than the Golf. Its predecessor clocked 6.2 seconds on our timing equipment. Honda claims 5.4 seconds for this model, and while that’s probably optimistic, seat of the pants says it’s a quicker car.
