Having sold his Mazda RX7 in early 1984 (to Graham and Ian Stones), Shiel found himself on the racing sidelines for the first time in many years. This time he wasn’t taking time out to fund a future racing project down the track. Racing cars were no longer a priority.
“Once I got married and bought a house, I thought I should get a real job. So over the years I worked for Goodyear, Bob Jane T-Marts and automotive equipment companies. It was security for my growing family.”
