EVERYTHING WAS IN place to achieve the biggest result of my career and she all came tumbling down. Unfortunately, I crashed on Stage 7 of Dakar in the road section, breaking my elbow and wrist and damaging my kidneys. The race started off well, I was confident in my riding and navigation skills. I was happy with where I was physically and mentally. A prologue win straight away showed some raw speed, then winning Stage 1 showed everyone I was ready to challenge the big guys. Winning my first Stage at Dakar was a big achievement I needed this year. Winning a stage at Dakar is like winning a round of any world championship event.
